Petroglyphs and natural reserve

Start from Torhamn.

Torhamn to Möckleryd (ca 3km). Petroglyphs Hästhallen, Fläskosastenen and Hjorten. Hjorten is difficult to reach in a hilly area with stone walls and shrubs, so you may need to ask someone to find out if you are not familiar with the area. From Möckleryd to Natural reserve Lövängarna in Steneryd it is approximately 700m. Great flora and hammered trees.

You then take the road Steneryd – Branthalla – Hallarum, (ca 5km) with several large nature reserves, Färskesjön lake nature reserve on the right side, Stora Rom Nature Reserve on the left side and the Hallarum nature reserve on the left.

Cycle down Hallarum towards Färskesjön, Reserve on the east side of the lake (ca 4km), lush bike path in the quiet, about 2km of deer fence on the left side turn left about 700m towards Blaklycke. After the starch plant about 300m a major road. Take right towards Koungshamn about 20m and park your bike and get up through the marked path up to the Purfürstska cliff. Petroglyphs that show, among other things, a fox, ship and other figures. Let the imagination go away – were there giraffes at this time?

Bike to Konungshamn, turn right on the ”coastal road” towards Torhamn. After about 1.5km of bike ride lies the Sibbaboda sand dunes where there is myrrelion. From Sibbaboda to Svanhalla, there are also rock carvings east of the road. Bike to the Svanhalla harbor and meet the sea, return to Truseryd about 2 km on a winding road through an agricultural landscape. Truseryd to Sandhamn about 2km.

From Sandhamn to Torhamn about 2km. Visit Torham’s Church and look at Gunnar Torham’s amazing and impressive altarpiece.

When you are in Torhamn, you can cycle out to the outskirts of Torham and view the remaining remains of the ancient heathland and the infinite horizon, the beautiful archipelago and, not least, the outermost point on the southern tip of the mainland. Birdlife is amazing, one of the country’s most prominent birdyards. Take a dip from the pier, ”Uddabryggan” with a nice sand bottom.

Continue on to the harbor of Torham with the characteristic line of seabed or stop and take a ferry boat to the islands. If you have been warm and want a bath, there are several possibilities for swimming at Pettersvik next to the harbor or at Gisslevik about 1.5km west of the church towards Jämjö.
