Kustvägen Kristianopel – Torhamn

Start from Kristianopel

From the small picturesque Kristianopel you take the road west towards Fågelmara, after a few miles you turn off towards Torhamn. The road winds along the coastline, and from time to time you can see the Baltic Sea shine in the sun, and if you want to take a small avalanche down to the sea, there are several small roads that can take you down to the sea. The coastal road you cycle on is part of the historic Littoriavallen. In the face of the mainland, it is usually very rocky where the ice sheet is left of stone, on the side down towards the Baltic Sea it is sandy and far more fertile.
A pearl of small villages awaits you all the way down to Torhamn, and the villages range from the sea to the east and towards the forest in the west. The peasants in the villages had in the past a road down to the sea so that every dorp is usually able to reach the seaside.
Arriving at Olsäng you can ride down to the family farm in Olsäng, the farm owner Per-Ola has made it easy for visitors to go down to the sea, where there is the opportunity to take a cooling dip and maybe get a closer look at seals. The farm owner would like you to lay a small gravel sled as thanks as you get down to the beach.
Olsäng also shows the first farm shop, where you mainly buy vegetables produced at the farms in Olsäng. Further down in Olsäng you will find the Lavendel farm and a farm shop. Then the villages are close to each other, in Orranäs you can buy deliciously good and award-winning farm cheese. Orranäs also has an organic summer café.
Then the small villages Gullholma and Attanäs follow. After Attanäs is Björkenäs, there is a small nice camping, with a nice bathing area and kiosk, maybe you will raise your tent here? After Björkenäs a lush journey through bush forest before you arrive at Svanhalla, please take a tailor down to Svanhalla harbor, one of many small fishing ports from the time when fishing was the main sector at Kustvägen. Further in the Svanhalla you will find a farm shop with fresh vegetables.
The road now leads towards Truseryd and Sandhamn, take a trip down to Sandhamn’s harbor, an old fishing harbor where there are still active fishermen, at the restaurant you can have a bunch of savory food.
After Sandhamn, the final destination is Torhamn, visit Torhamns Church and look at Gunnar Torham’s amazing and impressive altarpiece. Then take the road down to Torhamns harbor with a nice cafe and the gate to our incredibly beautiful eastern archipelago. From Torhamn you can also take the archipelago boat to Karlskrona.
